Food & Dairy Testing
After excelling for several years with environmental testing, ESS expanded the laboratory services to the food and dairy industries, and opened a laboratory in Bedford, VA in 1978 to address those testing needs. With a great emphasis on quality control and sample integrity, clients receive accurate results in a timely manner. The laboratory is staffed by a team of chemists and biologists who understand the importance of food safety and its value to clients and consumers.

Lab Quality and Accreditations
All analytical methods are AOAC, BAM, and / or Standard Methods approved. ESS actively participates in laboratory certification and quality assurance programs sponsored by regulatory agencies and International accrediting programs such as ISO 17025:2005.
Internal Quality Systems
In addition to required programs, ESS promotes internal quality verification programs at all locations. This includes daily QA checks and regular internal audits to ensure quality.
External Proficiency Programs
ESS participates in many external third party proficiency programs, both voluntary and regulated, with results reported directly to the regulatory bodies by the third party proficiency program provider.
What does ISO/IEC 17025:2005 mean to you?
ISO/IEC 17025:2005 assures the precision, accuracy and repeatability of analytical results by providing a third party assessment. Used in over 35 countries around the world, laboratories that are accredited to this international standard have demonstrated that they are technically competent and able to produce precise and accurate test and/or calibration data.
